As Close As The Breath You Breathe (comparison)
The Old Testament Tabernacle (constructed to “house”The Presence of God) was a tent of skins and cloth – thatwe could compare to our humanity). However, it wasfurnished with exquisite items of gold (the likeness of God’s Presence – His Treasure within our earthly bodies!) There was a Gold Table holding bread in golden vessels (reminding us of Jesus – The Precious Bread of Life ofwhom we may partake and be sustained! A Lamp standof gold represented God’s Guiding Light – available toilluminate our entire life’s pathway! An Altar of Gold from which wafted up incense – stoodas an opportunity to commune with God through prayer! Then behind a Veil (in the most intimate place of God’s Presence) stood the Ark of the Covenant – a wood boxoverlaid inside and out with gold – illustrating His desireto completely cover our humanity with His Ability! And – as the Ark was overshadowed by the Mercy Seatand Angels of Pure Gold, God longs to cover us closelyand completely with His Pure Holy Presence! (Prayer) God, may we allow You to abide close to us so You can breathe Your Life – giving Spirit into all we do! Genesis 2:7 “And the Lord God formed man of the dustof the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breathof life; and man became a living being.” John 20:22 “… He (Jesus) breathed on them, and said tothem, Receive the Holy Spirit…” (Ruth Doggette)
